The Henry David Halloween Ball is held every year on Halloween night at some hotel in Center City Philadelphia (This year it’s going to be held in Sheraton.)

Little about Henry David Ball: Costumes are amazing and the drag queens are gorgeous,

the people are fabulous and the music will definitely keep you on the dance floor.

I will be ‘again’ the official photographer of the ‘Butse Gang’ - As for the balls motto Don’t come as you are; come as you want to be. So I guess pa-bonggahan na naman itech ng mga costumes!

In the Philippines this day is called Undas or Todos los Santos which literally means All Saints Day. It’s where you spend a day and visit graves of decease love ones.

Traditionally people lit candles offer flowers and prayers to their deceased loves.

I have experienced this in the Philippines - it’s like a party no sa sementeryo! Kulang na lang disco lights na patay sindi with mga babaeng nag-gigilingan, mag karaoke ba sa loob ng mosuleo na air conditioned????? [Buti pa yong patay naka hercon!] Pucha pramis ang saya-saya, parang wala sa sementeryo!

OMG it’s commercialized, sa bungad pa lang ng pagpasok sa loob ng Loyola park at kung anik-anik na park sa ke-Meynilaan eh panay food stalls na agad ang bubulaga sayo - True diba?

As I’ve promise here are some of the pix last Halloween… These are my talents! (I am diwatang_byaning aka Mamasang Diwa!) These will be my first batch of ladies flying to Japan-Japan and will be working as entertainers… (read: entertainers… kakain ng bubog, tutulay sa alambre, kakain ng apoy at ng buhay na manok ha ha ha)

No that is not Techie Agbayani or Stella Suarez Sr. That is the beautiful and gorjess Carmina, Carmina Seguion-Reyna (likey-likey what you see? i do delivery, call me!)

O diba ang taray ng likod flowless! (talikod-genic ba? ha ha ha…) That is Ting Tong Macadangdang, Mr. Dudley’s fiancee and also the sibling of Tong Ting and Ping Pong etc, etc, etc from Little Britain.

Aren’t they a goddess? Dyosa ng kagandahan! Ang mga pinakamagandang hayuf sa balat ng lufa…

I am missing one lady here, and that is Maricris Dela Fuente. She doesn’t want to be exposed, as of yet - but soon-soon-soon… Wink-winkwinkwink, antabayan nyo! Sya ang pinakamagandang babaeng nakita nang gabi ng Oktubre 31!

The Henri David Halloween Ball is held every year on Halloween night at the Wyndham Franklin Plaza Hotel. Don’t leave Halloween to the little kids this year — big kids need treats, too!

Henri David is the owner of the fantastic jewelry store, Halloween, at Juniper and Pine Streets, he has been throwing this party for over 35 years. Don’t miss Henri’s multiple costume changes every night and the costume judging that starts at midnight.

People always go put some effort into their Halloween costumes. And party like the rock star on on Halloween night! $20 in costume, $50 for voyeurs. Doors open at 9pm. Phillyist has been attending the Ball for the last eight years and can personally guarantee a good time will be had by all!

The Henri David Halloween Ball is indeed a treat to be considered. It’s a feast for the eyes — the costumes are amazing and the drag queens are gorgeous, the people are fabulous and the music will definitely keep you on the dance floor.

Henry David really has a thing for Halloween!

It is the city’s most endearingly over-the-top Halloween party!!!

And it’s unofficial motto is

‘Don’t come as you are, but as you want to be,’

and ignoring this advice will double your fee for admission.

It’s been my pleasure to witness, and document, my impressions of people being who they want to be for just one night during the year. Everyone is so cordial, so laid back, and so natural, it’s as if it’s perfectly normal for everyone to let it all hang out everyday- literally and figuratively!!!
