More About Me...

I have alot of self-esteem, which is amazing. Cause I am probably somebody who wouldn't necessarily have alot of self-esteem... As I am considered a Minority.

Another Tit-Bit...

If you are a woman, a person of color, gay/lesbian/bisexual/trans-gender, a person of size, a person of intelligence, a person of integrity... Then you are considered a Minority in this world.

Just Things

Oh there were alot of things happened yesterday…

Chelsea Clinton was in Philadelphia last night at Woody’s. Dang I miss on that! I wish, I was there and see if Chelsea is a real hottie he he he (I will definitely BOAT your mom - Dapat manalo ka Hillary dear, para naman mabenta na ng amo ko ang book nyong magasawa na may signiture mo at kapag nagkataon double ang price happy-happy mataasan na din ako ng sahod.), and at the same time there is this cuckoo cuckoo man that held his family on hostage at Walt Whitman Bridge with a toy gun and a baseball bat uhg… Lucky me, I was on the opposite side (Benjamin Franklin) or else my @$%$^^… I hate being in traffic and being stranded out of nowhere.

again as usual and saw my folder and it really made me feel good… So I guess I am not going to drop it and just sell Oh well the good news is…, It is good that I decided to come to class last night. We had a quiz hmm as usual and saw my folder and I was actually doing really good in class. And to think I don’t do my homeworks and study at all… Kala ko drop ko na talaga at magtitinda na lang ako ng kulambo in some smalltiny alley in Chinatown lol.

Center City Bus Tour

I’ve been living in Greater Tri-State area for quiet sometime now, but then again am still new here, there are places that I haven’t been yet. (Ikaw na ang mag maging triple social climber na tila dinaig pa ang HRH sa pagiging double social climber nito, and work 3 jobs tignan natin kung makalakwatsa ka din?) Dutch why last Saturday I decided to roam the city of Killadelphia!

Along Race St., in Chinatown (how me hepa? me rub u wrong tym, sukie-fukie fy dollah?)

Reading Terminal Market, 12th and Arch Streets in downtown Philadelphia. Over 80 merchants offer fresh produce, meats, fish, groceries, flowers, baked goods, crafts, books, clothing, and specialty and ethnic foods (piniritong cricket, adobong azucena, uok large coconut worms, mangrove worms dipped in vinegar) Anyone? Charing lang, sabi kasi Ethnic eh lol

This is our lovely tourist guide - again this is just in Philadelphia hindi sa Alaska o sa Antartica o North Pole, hindi naman lamig na lamig ang guide namin no?

This is the famous Logan Square, north of Market St. It is named for Logan Square, one of the five squares, or parks, central to William Penn’s design for Philadelphia. The square itself was named after James Logan an eighteenth-century mayor of Philadelphia, kung sino man eh ah eerrmm friends na din kami since I am ex-mayor noon sa Manila City Jail.

This is Art Museum and right now they are showcasing fantabolous works of Pierre-Auguste Renoir.

Philadelphia is really known for it’s works of art! It is also the City of Brotherly Love! [paki-connect!!!] The city contains many art museums such as the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Rodin Museum, the largest collection of work by Auguste Rodin outside of France. The city’s major art museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, is one of the largest art museums in the United States and features the steps made popular by the film Rocky.

Philadelphia is home to many art galleries, many of which participate in the First Friday event. The first Friday of every month galleries in Old City are open late. Annual events include film festivals and parades, the most famous being the New Year’s Day Mummers Parade.

Areas such as South Street and Old City have a vibrant night life. The Avenue of the Arts in Center City contains many restaurants and theaters, such as the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, which is home to the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Academy of Music, the nation’s oldest continually operating venue, home to the Opera Company of Philadelphia.

Philadelphia has more public art than any other American city. In 1872, the Fairmount Park Art Association was created, the first private association in the United States dedicated to integrating public art and urban planning. In 1959, lobbying by the Artists Equity Association helped create the Percent for Art ordinance, the first for a U.S. city. The program, which has funded more than 200 pieces of public art, is administered by the Philadelphia Office of Arts and Culture, the city’s art agency.

In particular, Philadelphia has more murals than any other U.S. city, thanks in part to the 1984 creation of the Department of Recreation’s Mural Arts Program, which seeks to beautify neighborhoods and provide an outlet for graffiti artists. The program has funded more than 2,700 murals by professional, staff and volunteer artists.

And this is at JFK Plaza, where LOVE Park is…

I wish everybody a warm and nice Chrsitmas this coming Holiday Season.

Voorhees, NJ 08043 - Thanks in advance!!!

Rodin Museum

Rodin Museum
Benjamin Franklin Parkway at 22nd Street

That’s Daisy - Gates of Hell. - Sarap itulak sa impyerno bwahahaha, that’s my bestbestbest friend!

Jules E. Mastbaum, Philadelphia’s great movie theater magnate and one of its best-known philanthropists, began collecting works by Auguste Rodin in 1923 with the expressed intent of founding a museum to enrich the lives of his fellow citizens. He set about assembling a complete view of Rodin’s work, acquiring not only finished bronzes, but plaster studies as well as drawings, prints, letters, and books. By the time of his death in 1926, Mastbaum had brought together the greatest Rodin collection outside of Paris. He had also commissioned two great French Neoclassical architects working in Philadelphia, Paul Cret and by Jacques Gréber, to collaborate on a museum and garden, but did not live to see it completed.

Hanako

The Rodin Museum, which opened to the public in 1929, houses 124 sculptures, including bronze casts of the artist’s greatest works: The Thinker, perhaps the most famous sculpture in the world; The Burghers of Calais, his most heroic and moving historical tribute; Eternal Springtime, one of the most powerful works dealing with human love; powerful monuments to leading French intellectuals such as Apotheosis of Victor Hugo; and the culminating creation of his career, The Gates of Hell, on which the artist worked from 1880 until his death in 1917.

The Burghers of Calais

The Martyr… Like me (Pwede na kaming pabaril parehas sa luneta!)

The famous Thinker… (Magkamaganak kaya sila ni ThinkerBell?) Hmmm…

Auguste Rodin (French, 1840–1917) brought monumental public sculpture into the modern era. Though he was well acquainted with the academic traditions and idealized subjects of classical and Renaissance sculpture, Rodin’s aim in his work was to be absolutely faithful to nature. His uncanny ability to convey movement and to show the inner feelings of the men and women he portrayed, the bravura of his light-catching modeling, and his extraordinary use of similar figures in different mediums, have established him as one of the greatest sculptors of all time.

The Rodin Museum was the gift of movie theater magnate Jules Mastbaum (American, 1872–1926) to the city of Philadelphia. Mastbaum began collecting works by Rodin in 1923 with the intent of founding a museum to enrich the lives of his fellow citizens. Just three years later, he had assembled the largest collection of Rodin’s works outside Paris, including bronze castings, plaster studies, drawings, prints, letters, and books. In 1926, Mastbaum commissioned French architects Paul Cret and Jacques Gréber to design the Museum building and gardens. Unfortunately, the collector did not live to see his dream realized, but his widow honored his commitment to the city, and the Museum was inaugurated on November 29, 1929.

Damned Women

Salamat Inay!)

Over 60,000 visitors annually make the trip to see this spectacular Museum and the gardens which surround it. Designed by Jacques Gréber as part of the Museum’s overall plan, the Rodin Gardens have remained a calm respite from the clatter of the city, even as the Parkway has changed over the years.

As Rodin himself knew, the appreciation of works of art is heightened by nature—and that is the goal of the Rodin Gardens. The reflecting pool in the garden courtyard evokes calm and echoes the cool beauty that the visitor will experience within the building.

Last Halloween… The Henry David Ball

The Henri David Halloween Ball is held every year on Halloween night at the Wyndham Franklin Plaza Hotel. Don’t leave Halloween to the little kids this year — big kids need treats, too!

Henri David is the owner of the fantastic jewelry store, Halloween, at Juniper and Pine Streets, he has been throwing this party for over 35 years. Don’t miss Henri’s multiple costume changes every night and the costume judging that starts at midnight.

People always go put some effort into their Halloween costumes. And party like the rock star on on Halloween night! $20 in costume, $50 for voyeurs. Doors open at 9pm. Phillyist has been attending the Ball for the last eight years and can personally guarantee a good time will be had by all!

The Henri David Halloween Ball is indeed a treat to be considered. It’s a feast for the eyes — the costumes are amazing and the drag queens are gorgeous, the people are fabulous and the music will definitely keep you on the dance floor.

Henry David really has a thing for Halloween!

It is the city’s most endearingly over-the-top Halloween party!!!

And it’s unofficial motto is

‘Don’t come as you are, but as you want to be,’

and ignoring this advice will double your fee for admission.

It’s been my pleasure to witness, and document, my impressions of people being who they want to be for just one night during the year. Everyone is so cordial, so laid back, and so natural, it’s as if it’s perfectly normal for everyone to let it all hang out everyday- literally and figuratively!!!

Kala ko yong $32.00 eh may breakfast-lunch-dinner-midnight snak na na kasama yon, ni pa-soda wala! At ang masaklap pa nito, no cameras allowed? ANO DAW? Hilo ata tong mga to eh.

It was 30 years after King Tut treasures last visited the United States and more than 3,000 years after his death, the treasures and the boy king is a current resident of Franklin Institute Science Museum and will be staying until September 30 of this year. Well Philadelphia is the final and last stop on it’s current U.S. tour.

art museum revisited - continuation

Since the Museum’s founding in 1876, its renowned collections have grown to include more than 225,000 works of art.

East Asian Art

Tomb Figure of a Bactrian Camel. Made in Chang-an, China in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), 618-907. Artist/maker unknown, Chinese Earthenware with sancai (tricolor) glaze

American Art Gallery 119, first floor.

In 1964, Warhol sold these Brillo boxes for $350.00 each.

It was during the 1960s that Warhol began to make paintings of famous American products such as Campbell’s Soup Cans from of course the Campbell Soup Company and Coca-cola, as well as paintings or series silkscreens of celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Jackie O. He founded the factory his studio during those times.

I love almost all of Andy’s work and his Philosophy.

Correct me if am wrong but I think this is from Edna Andrade. What a great optical illusion art!

Ekkkkk ano ito???

I am lusting for this sculpture, I want this in my room! Grabe no? Kahit istatwa pinagseselosan! Charing! Hindi na ako masyadong maka-concentrate nitong time na to dahil nag-iinarte na naman po sya!

Actually before we went to this Museum, she’s giving me crap in the car. [Tampuhera grabe. Ewan ko kung kultura na nila ito.] So, ayun na nga nagaaway kami sa kotse at uuwi na daw sya… I want to go home! Show me the way home!

So tao lang ako, nagkakamali. Aba at ipinara nga nya, antagal namin sa highway no at talaga namang sinabi pa sa akin Get out of the car now!

We went to the restroom and as an OC person I am… I am really paranoid about germs and bacteria so whenever I go grab the doorknob handle especially in public restrooms I always put a napkin on my hand so I won’t be touching it. But at that time Manat did it for me. She opened the doors for me… After that we sorta not ok… I know already somethings wrong with her… The way she looks at me… So I kind of get it already, I asked her “ohhh give me the napkin that you used, I’ll put it in the trash!” Sinagot ako ng pabalang! Why did you just asked me now? You should have asked me couple of minutes ago!

Why do you always give me hard time? Why are you so bitching on me? You know what? You have an attitude problem! Ahaaa ahahaha…] Namimihasa sya pag inaamo ko sya… Ganito ang pakikipagsapalaran ko sa jowa ko!

After 5 mins…

I want to go home! I want to go home! Take me home. Ito lang ang nasabi nya for like 30 minutes! Sabi ko sige ipagsigawan mo pang TAKE ME HOME, TAKE ME HOME ka jan…

Pwede ba!]
Walk-out-walk-out tapos gusto lang palang pahabol.

[Kinausap ko sya after nyan, just to give her heads up… I am pretty pissed off! I cannot deal with crap like that! And I am almost sick and tired of all this Sh**…] Nakakasawa no… Sa totoo lang! Nakakapagod…

He he he… I am way toooo old for that!
