Seafood Cook Off
As much as I love eating, I love cooking as well - I love cooking my own food, and you all know that if you are one of my regular readers here at my site…
I love eating seafoods - like lobster, dungarees, crabs, oysters and yeah my favorite of them all seafoods is mussels. When I was still leaving at home, I would always ask my Dad to cook mussels for me like, every week - isn’t that crazy?
A few weeks ago, I have invited friends to come over our house, cause I wanted them to sample the dish that I have made. It was my very own Thai Style Mussels. The main ingredient of course was Mussels, most of my friends whom I invited and ate it, actually loved it. It is very simple! In a saucepan I just sautéed garlic, onions, lemon grass, peppers, coarsely chopped Thai basil, cilantro and a mint for that ultimately fresh taste and after that I have put 3cups of water, 2cups of white wine and 1cup of unsweetened coconut milk and to complete it fresh ground pepper and a pinch of salt.
There’s only one reason why I love mussels - the source is known, it is local and fresh.
I am not that experienced when it comes to cooking but in my own opinion this dish “my Thai style mussels” can be a potential contender at some Cook off. What do you think? Oh by the way the Great American Seafood Cook Off is really making me excited! It is indeed one of America’s most prestigious culinary competitions, one chef and one state will walk away with the title of King of American Seafood. Governor Jindal issued the challenge for states to send us their best chef and most delicious domestic sustainable seafood. Just by making it to the big show, fourteen chefs have already proven their merit.
